THE INTIMATE LENS -- ART FOR THE HEART

A 4-week online workshop with Kerry Payne Stailey
Tuesdays, 6:00–8:30pm (Eastern)
Tuition: $995 per person

What if the images closest to your heart are the ones that could change your life?

Photography has always been more than craft.
It is memory, emotion, identity—an unspoken language that allows us to express what we struggle to say out loud. Images have the power to reveal patterns, revisit history, make meaning, and open gentle pathways through the complex terrain of being human.

For many artists, the most personal stories are the ones they feel least prepared to tell.
This workshop is an invitation to begin.

Join award-winning photographer and storyteller Kerry Payne Stailey for a four-week online experience designed to help you explore, articulate, and visually express the stories that matter most to you—whether rooted in grief, identity, longing, healing, or legacy. Through a supportive, reflective, and creatively rigorous process, you’ll learn to shape personal truth into resonant photographic work.

What if your most personal story could become your most powerful work?

A workshop where images become insight:

We’ll work with techniques that help uncover the emotional and symbolic layers within your photographs, including:

Visual reflection and personal archives
Rediscover the stories hidden in family albums or personal collections, revisiting memory with fresh perspective.

Photographic projection
Understand how your own images hold internal narratives, unspoken emotions, and deeper truths waiting to surface.

Self-portraiture as language
Explore identity, body, self-esteem, and personal evolution through creative, intentional self-representation.

The photographic pause & visual journaling
A grounding, mindful practice that encourages presence, emotional clarity, and creative consistency.

These approaches—long used in creative, therapeutic, and narrative practices—support students in connecting with their internal landscapes while developing meaningful visual storytelling.

“What I learned and the connections I made during this workshop will really last forever. The work I made in Maine was selected for the StARTup Art Fair in Los Angeles, and later caught the attention of the curators from Venice Biennale 2021. I recommend Art for The Heart to anyone seeking inspiration, community, and a kind, talented teacher.”
Lisa Praster, Amsterdam

This class is open to amateur and professional photographers alike—ideal for those just starting a personal project, revisiting a deeply personal archive, or seeking a creative reset. You’ll receive thoughtful weekly assignments, as well as space to pursue your own direction. Critiques are supportive and meaningful, fostering a sense of community that continues long after the course ends.

Part photography, part storytelling, and part self-discovery, this is a space to push boundaries, nurture voice, and build lasting creative relationships.
